Science, Government, and Religious Communities: What Are Their Roles During a Pandemic?
Join Jews for a Secular Democracy for a fascinating and timely discussion about the interrelated roles of science, government, and religious communities in the midst of a pandemic. This discussion features: Dr. Paul Offit, Director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as well as the Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology and a Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania; and Ian Sherman, a nurse practitioner on the front lines of the epidemic in NYC. He has an interest in the intersection of culture and healthcare, especially in the ways that religious identity impact desires and expectations during healthcare delivery. He received his Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Hunter College and lives in Brooklyn, NY.
