Understanding Fulton v. Philadelphia with Nick Little of Center for Inquiry
The Supreme Court will soon issue a decision in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia, a case which will have major implications for the separation of church and state. The question at hand? Whether the City of Philadelphia can stop funding a private, faith-based foster care agency that won’t adopt out to same-sex couples, in violation of the City’s nondiscrimination regulations. Another case working its way to the Court is Maddonna v. Dept. of Health and Human Services, where a South Carolina adoption agency discriminated against Catholic and Jewish potential adoptive parents despite receiving federal tax dollars. Nick Little, Vice President and General Counsel at Center for Inquiry, helps us understand the implications and what might come next if the conservative Justices rule as we fear they will.
