From Florida to the Nation

Amanda Tyler on Christian Nationalism and Religious Freedom

Watch the recording of this webinar on YouTube here.

As we all know, what happens in Florida doesn’t stay in Florida.

Christian Nationalist ideology is not only reshaping policy across the Sunshine State — it’s also fueling a broader national movement that threatens democracy, civil liberties, and religious freedom for all. In this second session of our two-part series, we’ll examine the national implications of Christian Nationalism and explore what we can do to fight back.

Our featured speaker, Amanda Tyler, is Executive Director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty and founder of the Christians Against Christian Nationalism campaign. She’ll be joined by moderators Paul Golin, Executive Director of the Society for Humanistic Judaism, and Laura Rodriguez, Florida Organizer for Jews for a Secular Democracy. Register here to join us.

Together, they will help us connect the dots between local legislation, extremist ideology, and the growing effort to enshrine one religion above all others in law and culture.

This critical conversation will explore:

  • What Christian Nationalism is — and what it is not
  • How Christian Nationalism undermines the First Amendment
  • The rise in antisemitism, Islamophobia, and anti-LGBTQ+ policies tied to this movement
  • The civic and moral responsibility of faith-based and secular communities to speak out
  • What individuals, congregations, and coalitions can do to safeguard pluralism and democracy

Presented by the Florida initiative of Jews for a Secular Democracy with generous support from the Eula Mae & John Baugh Foundation.
