Christian Nationalism Today and How Communities of Conscience Can Combat It

The Face of Christian Nationalism in the US and How Communities of Conscience Can Combat It

You can watch the full webinar on YouTube here.

This webinar is part of Jews for a Secular Democracy’s ongoing programming on Christian Nationalism and real religious freedom, continuing and deepening conversations sparked by previous programs, including our recent discussion with Amanda Tyler.

Christian Nationalism has taken on a visible and influential role in American public life—shaping legislation, electoral politics, and the national conversation about religion and democracy. In “Christian Nationalism Today and How Communities of Conscience Can Combat It,” JFASD welcomes Rev. Paul Brandeis Raushenbush, President and CEO of Interfaith Alliance, for a timely and values-driven examination of how this movement is operating today and what is at stake for the First Amendment.

The discussion will explore how Christian Nationalism is affecting national policy and the upcoming elections, with a focused look at Florida as a testing ground for policies and strategies that are increasingly spreading nationwide. Moderated by Paul Golin, Executive Director of the Society for Humanistic Judaism, and Laura Rodriguez, Florida Coordinator for Jews for a Secular Democracy, the program will also lift up the role of communities of conscience—faith leaders, interfaith coalitions, and civic advocates—who are organizing to confront Christian Nationalism and defend a pluralistic democracy.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of what Christian Nationalism is—and is not—why it threatens real religious freedom, and how individuals and communities can take meaningful action to combat it at the local, state, and national levels.

Presented by the Florida initiative of Jews for a Secular Democracy with generous support from the Eula Mae & John Baugh Foundation
